This policy sets out what you may and may not do with the Kavach devices, apps and service. It forms part of our Terms & Conditions. It exists for one reason: a safety network only works if everyone on it uses it honestly.

1. The two principles

Trigger freely when you need help. Alerts are unlimited and never metered. If you feel unsafe, press the buttons. You will never be charged more, and you will never be penalised for an alert raised in good faith, even if it turns out nothing was wrong.

Do not use Kavach against another person. The device is for your own safety, or for the safety of someone in your care who knows they carry it.

2. What you must not do

Misuse of alerts

  • Deliberately raise false alerts, or raise alerts as a prank, test of our patience, or to harass a contact.
  • Automate, script or bulk-generate triggers.
  • Use the alert channel to send marketing, spam or unrelated messages.

Surveillance and coercion

  • Give a device to an adult in order to track them without their knowledge or free consent.
  • Use Kavach to monitor a partner, ex-partner, employee or any other person covertly.
  • Add a person as an emergency contact without their consent, or repeatedly alert someone who has asked you to stop.

We take covert tracking seriously. Kavach exists to protect people, most often women, from exactly this. Using it as a tool of control is the single clearest way to lose access to the Service permanently, and we will cooperate with law enforcement where the law requires it.

Technical misuse

  • Reverse engineer, tamper with or modify device firmware, or attempt to bypass subscription controls.
  • Probe, scan or test the security of our systems without written permission, or interfere with the service for other users.
  • Resell, sublicense or commercially redistribute the Service without our written agreement.
  • Share or resell subscription activation codes outside their intended one-time redemption.

Unlawful use

  • Use the Service to break any Indian law, infringe anyone's rights, or impersonate another person.
  • Upload content that is obscene, defamatory, or otherwise unlawful under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and rules made under it.

3. Devices carried by someone in your care

Kavach Children is designed for a parent or lawful guardian to protect a child in their care. Kavach Plus may likewise be set up by a family member or caregiver to support an adult in their care. The person carrying the device should know they carry it and agree to it. Using any Kavach device to monitor a person without their knowledge, or to circumvent a custody or care arrangement, is a breach of this policy.

4. Reporting a security issue

If you find a security vulnerability in our devices, apps or infrastructure, please tell us at security@kavachdevices.com before disclosing it publicly. We will not pursue action against researchers who investigate in good faith, act within the scope of this policy, avoid privacy violations and service disruption, and give us a reasonable opportunity to fix the issue.

5. How we enforce this

Depending on the seriousness of the breach we may issue a warning, restrict features, suspend the account, terminate the account and subscription without refund, or report the matter to law enforcement.

Wherever it is safe and lawful to do so, we will tell you what we found and give you a chance to respond. Where an account is suspended for suspected covert tracking or coercive use, we may act first and explain afterwards, because the safety of the person being tracked comes ahead of the convenience of the account holder.

6. Reporting misuse

To report misuse of Kavach, including a device you believe has been placed on you without your consent, email abuse@kavachdevices.com. If you are in immediate danger, contact the police on 112 first.
